Deceived is a gripping psychological thriller that mazes through the deepest, darkest emotions of human mind through the story of a vulnerable girl who treads in the mist of deception bred from a long unforgiven betrayal.
I had the amazing opportunity to interview the author of Deceived- Heena Rathore. Before the questions, here is something about the author:
Heena Rathore Pardeshi is a novelist, novel critic, as well as a book reviewer. She is also the Editor In Chief at a publishing house and an acclaimed YouTube Podcaster. An award-winning writer, she has won several NaNoWriMos and JuNoWriMos since 2014.
A fan of crime-thrillers, apocalyptic fiction and slasher movies and series, she draws inspiration from the works of legendary writers such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Sidney Sheldon. She’s also a fan of Steven Spielberg and M. Night Shyamalan.
An introvert and freethinker, Heena prefers neatness to chaos – in her fictional themes as well as in her real life. She has a special place for German Shepherds and books in her heart.
Heena also manages her own book club, RMFAO on Goodreads.com.
Heena is twenty-six years old and lives in Pune, India with her beloved husband, Vishal – a successful entrepreneur, in a house full of books, music, and love. Heena passionately creates vivid fictional worlds; some to read and cherish, and some to live in.
Q & A
Q1. How did you get the idea of such a plot for your story?
Ans1. Initially I had a different plot in mind (but an equally dark one), but as I started writing, the plot stared taking a bit different shape and the end result is this book.
Q2. Why did you choose the antagonist as a pschyopath and not a sociopath?
Ans2. I won’t be answering this question as it’ll reveal the main twist. I’d just say that there is a sociopath as well as a pyschopath, you will have to figure it out on your own.
Q3. In the beginning of Deceived, the character Donny, appears as a suspicious curious character at intervals however there is no more mention of him later on in the book. As a reader, I would like to know what happens to him thereafter?
Ans3. As a writer, I’d jut say that you would have to wait for the sequel to know more about Donny and other characters. It may take time as I have other projects in mind before I start working on it, so you may have to wait for a while to find the answer to that particular bit
Q4. The characterization of Allison Stone is very detailed and described thoroughly. Did you write about her in that way with someone in mind?
Ans4. Main characters are usually the shadow of their writers. Allison Stone’s charater is drawn from my own life and my own self. though there are still a lot of differences between us to make both of us very different people, but emotionally, we right there beside each other
Q5. The ending is quite open ended; do you plan to write a sequel?
Ans5. I guess I have already answered that question. Yes, upon the insistence of my publisher, there will be a sequel to Deceived in the future.
So yes guys!! There is going to be a sequel YAYAYYAY!!! If you guys haven’t read Deceived yet, make sure to do so. It a great book book and you can also read my review of the book a couple of posts ago 🙂
